Brighton Urban Renewal Authority
Our leadership is integrally involved in corporate relocation and expansion projects that create increased commercial development and bring significant job growth to Brighton
Brighton EDC also supports the activities of the Brighton Urban Renewal Authority (BURA) and the Downtown Initiative, since redevelopment and reinvestment are critical to maintaining Brighton’s heritage.
BURA is dedicated to assisting in the reinvestment of property within the designated downtown area, working with the City of Brighton to stimulate necessary investments from the private sector.
BURA Objectives:
- To provide for the most beneficial, profitable and efficient utilization of land.
- To encourage the development of financial mechanisms and programs that promote redevelopment and reinvestment.
- To improve the transportation system and reduce congestion.
- To create new jobs.
- To promote the historic character and natural beauty of downtown Brighton

BURA is working with the City of Brighton to purchase the former Platte Valley Medical Center property so it can provide affordable space for a variety of nonprofit tenants. The Brighton Campus will be a lifelong learning and health center, offering higher education, healthcare and workforce training to citizens throughout Adams and Weld counties.
