Competition Opens September 13th!

The Brighton Economic Development Corporation (Brighton EDC) will host its first Brighton Business Innovation Pitch Competition open to entrepreneurs and small businesses currently operating in Brighton or planning to open in Brighton. The competition will award the winning entrepreneur or small business owner a $10,000 grand prize.

The goal of the competition is to find a viable business or business idea and help get it to the next level with a $10,000 cash infusion. The prize money can be used for any business needs including expansion costs, technology or equipment purchase, staffing, etc.

The Brighton EDC will be partnering with local organizations in the competition process to help select the top five applicants and to provide pitch preparation and technical assistance to the top five. All applicants will receive feedback from qualified individuals regarding their business or business idea.

“With this competition, the Brighton EDC will help kick-start a Brighton small business and, at the same time, help to catalyze the Brighton entrepreneurial community by bringing together organizations and individuals who support Brighton businesses,” said Brighton EDC Executive Director Michael Martinez “We hope to grow this competition into an annual competition so we can directly support more Brighton businesses and the Brighton community as a whole.”

The Brighton EDC will begin accepting online applications  Tuesday, Sept. 13 at  www.brightonedc.org/pitch-competition  . The deadline to enter will be Friday, Oct. 14.

Funding for the competition is made possible through a Brighton Lodging Tax Committee grant.
