Education
Brighton is committed to making education and lifelong learning a cornerstone of the community. Attracting strong teachers and educational institutions is a top priority.
A total of 75 percent of Brighton residents have a high school degree (or equivalent) or higher level of education. More than 22 percent have an Associates, Bachelors or Graduate degree.
Brighton’s schools are a part of School District 27J, and feature the highest CSAP scores in Adams County. The mission of the Brighton school district, with the support of the family and the community, is to ensure that all students have the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for present and future competence and success. School District 27J strives for excellence.
In 2004, high school graduates from this district were awarded over $2 million in college scholarships. Brighton is also taking steps to improve its schools by renovating current school buildings and constructing new buildings to meet the growing demands from population growth in the district. Brighton is also working on expanding higher education facilities and opportunities with Front Range Community College and Colorado State University.

The school district covers approximately 210 square miles and serves the entire City of Brighton and portions of Commerce City and Thornton as well as sections of unincorporated Adams, Weld and Broomfield Counties. The district is proud of its strong school-to-work focus. It also has high academic achievement, as evidenced by above-average SAT and ACT scores.

The BEST Committee of Brighton Economic Development donated 61 books to the North Elementary library on May 16th to be presented to North students who progress in reading during the summer months.
