Brighton among fast-growth areas

1/8/2008 - Brighton, Colorado

Brighton, the county seat of Adams County, has ranked second on a list of the top seven
high-growth places in the country.

The ranking from the Gadberry Group of Little Rock, Ark., reflects Brighton's rapid
population growth since the last U.S. Census Bureau count in 2000. Brighton expanded its
household count to 21,608 in 2007 from 9,755 seven years earlier.

The average household income in Brighton also increased, to $65,759 from $55,989.

Brighton was the only Colorado city to make the Gadberry Group's report, called "7 from
2007." The other cities were: Frisco, Texas; Goodyear, Ariz.; Plainfield, Ill.; North Port,
Fla.; Lawrenceville, Ga.; and Wentzville, Mo.

Brighton is about 20 miles northeast of downtown Denver.
