Brighton No. 2 for growth
1/8/2008 - Brighton, Colorado
BRIGHTON --Brighton has placed No. 2 on the Gadberry Group's 7 from
2007 list, which highlights the top seven high-growth cities in the United
States.
The Little Rock, Ark.-based Gadberry Group issued its report today with
Brighton as the only Colorado city on the list. Brighton earned its place with
its number of households growing by 122 percent since 2000 and by 13
percent in 2007 alone, and with household income rising by 17 percent
since 2000 to a current average of $65,750.
Brighton, the county seat for Adams County, is located about 20 minutes
from downtown Denver and about 15 minutes from Denver International
Airport. It is also located near the E-470 toll road completed in 2002.
"DIA and E-470 have made Brighton enormously connected," said Brighton
Mayor Jan Pawlowski. "Our vision of a thriving, sustainable community built
on transportation access, excellent schools, reasonable housing costs, open
space and quality of life is coming into focus."
Since the 2000 census, the population of Brighton has grown from 9,755 to
21,608, with the average household income jumping by almost $10,000
over the last seven years.
Other cities on the list include Frisco, Texas, at No. 1 and Goodyear, Ariz.,
No. 3, followed in order by Plainfield, Ill., North Port, Fla., Lawrenceville,
Ga. and Wentzville, Mo.
