Brighton, Colorado – The Brighton Economic Development Corporation is pleased to welcome Select Energy Services to the local oil and gas market, and announce the expansion of oil and gas service provider Baker Hughes. The two companies announced new long-term leases along the Highway 85 “Energy Corridor” last week.
“It’s the beginning part of the boom in Northeast Colorado,” said CB Richard Ellis broker Ryan Good, who represented both deals.
Baker Hughes, formerly BJ Services, is expanding its operations in Brighton, with a new lease of 16 acres of land along Highway 85. The new lease includes land for parking trucks and equipment as well as two industrial buildings totaling 20,000 square feet. The owner is Tri-County Real Estate.
A global company headquartered in Houston, Baker Hughes provides reservoir consulting, drilling, formation evaluation, completions, pressure pumping and production products and services to the oil and gas industry, according to its website.
“The Baker Hughes expansion is another indication of healthy industrial growth and new jobs for our area,” said James Vigesaa, Chairman of Brighton Economic Development Corporation.
Just south of the site leased by Baker Hughes, a 37-acre site has been leased by Select Energy Services, another Houston-based energy player.
The Select Energy Services lease includes five buildings, both office and industrial, with 57,000 total square feet of improvements. The company provides well site rentals and accommodations, water management operations, rig logistics, heavy haul services, and wellsite construction.
"This is another home run for the region," said Raymond H. Gonzales, President and CEO of the Brighton Economic Development Corporation.
The branches functioning out of their new Brighton facility will include Select Tank Trucks and Select Oilfield Trucking, according to their website. Select Energy Services signed a long-term lease, with an option to buy, according to Good.
Activity from the Niobrara shale play from southern Wyoming to northeastern Colorado is increasing, partly due to new fracking technology. A lot of this activity, as well growth from the clean energy industry, is occurring along Highway 85 from Brighton north to Greeley, hence the term “Energy Corridor.”
Both the Baker Hughes and Select Energy properties lie within Brighton's growth area, and plans for annexation into the city limits are being discussed.
