This New Year is bringing new technology and new jobs right here to Brighton thanks to Vestas.

The Denmark based company built their first blades here in 2011 and since production kicked off seven years ago, there have been four generations of blades and again Brighton is on the cutting edge of the newest blade to be produced.

With an eye toward innovation and after recognizing a need for different blades for different wind conditions, Vestas released the most advanced aerofoil design to date to deliver efficient energy production in low and medium wind conditions. The aerofoil design, applied to the new 66.7m long blades, enables a 16 percent increase in annual energy production while at the same time minimizing structural loads. Advanced aerodynamics, particularly at the blade tips, and aero add-ons such as Serrated Trailing Edges also decrease the maximum noise emission level.

With this change, the Vestas factory has installed a newer and larger production line to meet market demand. As a result, Vestas will be adding approximately 250 new production team members to the local team.

Vestas is excited about hiring employees who are dedicated and safety-minded, and who work well as a team. If you’re interested in applying for these jobs, they are looking for people who are interested in learning about this exciting new technology. If interested, you can learn more at www.vestas.com/career.

Brighton EDC is excited to continue this partnership with Vestas and see how they will continue to be an incredible asset to the Brighton community.
